Trinity Hockey Club Holds Dance. There was a moderate attendance at the Trinity Hockey Club’s fifth dance of the season, which was held in the Excelsior Hall on Saturday night. An orange dance was won by Mr L. Scott and Miss I. Scott, a lucky spot waltz by Mr J. Neville and Miss D. Hoyle, and a Monte Carlo one-step by Mr S. Page and Miss D. Whitford. The club will close its season with its annual dance on September 16, when trophies won during the season will be presented. Late Mrs E. E. Wilson. Mrs Emily Elizabeth Wilson, an old identity of Lyttelton, and one of the first teachers at the Lyttelton School, died at her residence in Dublin Street, Lyttelton, on Saturday, at the age of seventy-four. The late Mrs Wilson was born at Norwood, near Adelaide, in 1860. and arrived in Lyttelton with her parents, Mr and Mrs Geo. Jenkins, in 1864. She was appointed pupil teacher at the Lyttelton District School in 1875, and she afterwards taught at Wakanui and Greendale. She was married in 1889 to Mr Geo. Wilson, of Greendale. Mr and Mrs Wilson have lived in Lyttelton for the past thirtytwo years. The late Mrs Wilson was an active worker and member of various women's organisations and of the Church. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Messrs F. W. Wilson (Beckenham) and A. H. Wilson (Wanganui) and one daughter, Mrs W. J. Calvert (Spreydon). The funeral will take place this afternoon. Carnival Dance. The carnival dance organised by the Social Committee of St Saviour’s Church, and held at the Sunday Schoolroom on Friday evening, attracted a fair attendance. Novelty dances, paper caps, balloons and streamer dances added to the enjoyment of the evening. The winners of the lucky spot dance were Mr A. and Miss Zoe Bowling, and a Monte Carlo dance was won bv Mr J. Newton and Miss Jean Ilobbs. The music was provided by Miss P. Plimmer, and extras were played by Mrs H. Oates and the Misses B. Weastel! and Lyndal Hendry. Football Matches. An Association football match was played yesterday at Officers Point between the Lyttelton Association football team and a team from the motor ship Opawa. The match resulted in a win for the Lyttelton team by 5 goals to 1. Yesterday afternoon a Rugby match was played between a team represent* ing the Lyttelton Unemployed and a team from the Linwood Locomotive Department. This match, which created much interest, resulted in a win for the Lyttelton team by 9 points to 3.
