IMPERIAL CULTURE.
Instrumental trios and vocal solos comprised the first part of the programme at the meeting of the Society for Imperial Culture, held on Saturday night at the/ Chamber of Commerce. Misses Dora Deal. Marjorie Chapman and Bessie Pollard played Andante and Presto from Trio in C Major (Haydn) and Scherzo from Trio in E Flat (Brahms); and Miss Myra Pollard, accompanied bv Miss Bessie Pollard, sang “ The Rose Enslaves the Nightingale" (Rimskv-Korsakov) and “ Ballata ” (Sibella). Dr Hansen moved a vote of thanks to the musicians and to Mr L. F. de Berry, who spoke on “ Modern Novell” At the next meeting of the society Mr F. A. Shurrock will give an illustrated lecture on “ Modern Sculpture.”
