BLENHEIM MAN’S DEATH.

Per Press Association. BLENHEIM, August 7. The death is announced of Mr John Tinline Mowat, seventy years of age, known as “ The Kindly Giant.” Mr Mowat was a member of a well-know T n Marlborough family, and for the last two years acted as honorary secretary of the Blenheim Relief of Committee. He also had full control of the relief depot. Mr Mowat was educated at Nelson College, where he had a good athletic record. Later he represented Nelson and Marlborough at Rugby. For some years Mr Mowat managed the Altimarlock family’s station. Then he visited America and for some time acted as inspector of stock in the Falkland Islands. In later years, until his retirement, he was in the land agency business in Blenheim. He is survived by his widow and two daughters, Alesdames L. H. Clouston, of Springlands, and Mrs A. Goyder, of Spring Creek, and two sons, Mr Roy Mowat, Wellington, and Mr Alexander Mowat, Mokau.
