SCOTTISH SOCIETY.
Junior League Have Social Evening. The Scottish Society Junior League spent an enjoyable social evening in the M.E.D. Demonstration Boom on Wednesday night. As a mark of. respect to the late Mr J. M’Combs, M.P., the gathering stood in silence for several minutes. A cooking demonstration by Miss Powell was appreciated and an Interesting talk was given by Mr Hitchcock (general manager, M.E.L.) on his tour round the world, illustrated with lantern slides. The following items were given by members of the league: Highland reel, Misses Jean Smith, Heather M’Lachlan, IJna Sanders, Joan M’Lonald; songs. Misses Jean M’Lachlan and Jean Lickson, Master Pat Smith; Irish reel, Misses Joy M’Lachlan, Jean M’Lachlan, Jean Lickson and Master Percy Geddies. Mrs Hitchcock and Miss Powell were presented with bouquets of flowers by the two youngest members of the league. The evening was completed with supper and a dance in the society’s rooms. A silver collection in aid of the Mayor’s Relief Fund realised £1 8s Sd.
