PERSONAL ITEMS.

Mr and Mrs W. M. Gimson, Christchurch, are visiting Blenheim. Mr and Mrs A. E. Turner, Christchurch. who have been staying in Blenheim, have returned home. Miss B. E. Stone-Wigg, Waihi, Winchester, left Christchurch last evening for Wellington. Mrs Stanley Prankerd, Cashmere Hills, is visiting her sister, Mrs George Elliffe, Sunshine, Dunedin. Mr and Mrs T. M. Thompson, Dunedin, were passengers for Wellington by last night’s ferry steamer. Miss Ethel le Cren, Evans Street, Timaru, is spending a few days in Christchurch. Mr and Mrs A. Slade, New Brighton, have left for Auckland, where they will live in future. Miss Rae Durose, St Albans, will leave to-night for Auckland, where she will join the Rangitiki for England. Mrs Oberlin Brown, Auckland, and Mrs Arthur Brown. Kamo, who have been visiting Mrs F. W. W. Dawson, Riccarton, will return north to-night. Miss Joan Wood, Christchurch, is spending a holiday with her parents, Mr and Mrs Razel Wood, Morgan’s road, Timaru.

Mr and Mrs J. G. Johnston. Wellington, will be the guests of Mrs Oakleigh Greenwood, Hambleden. Bealey Avenue, for Grand National Week. Mrs F. Hodson, Wellington, who has been the guest of Lady Acland. Chippenham, St Albans, returned North last evening. Miss D. Allen and Miss Betty Nancarrow, Bealey Avenue, arc the guests of Miss H. Montgomery, Wairewa, Little River.

Miss Jocelyn Francis, Rossall Street, has returned home from a visit to Auckland, where she was the guest of Mrs Douglas Mill. Mrs F. A. Nixon, Fendalton, and her sister, Miss F. Bullen, “ The Lakes,” Kaikoura, who have been spending several weeks in Wellington, returned south this morning. Mrs F. Needham will leave for Wellington on Friday next on a visit to Mrs J. B. L. Needham and Mrs Norman M'Farlane. Before returning to Christchurch she will pay a visit to Mrs Kent, Paekakariki.

Mrs A. J. Benzie, Avonside, will leave Christchurch to-night for Wellington on the first stage of her trip to England. Mrs Benzie expects to be away for at least twelve months. While in England she will visit her mother and married sister.

It was announced at a meeting of the Canterbury College Board of Governors yesterday that Miss B. Buxton had been appointed swimming mistress at the Christchurch and Avonside Girls’ High Schools for the coming season.

Madame Josephine Ottlee, her husband, Mr H. C. E. Stahle and Miss Mary Stahle, will leave Christchurch to-night en route for Melbourne, where they will live in future. Madame Ottlee, who is well known in musical circles in Christchurch, has been entertained at several farewell parties during the last few weeks.
