Concert Disturbers.

Dear Sir, —I think that in fairness to the artists who so generously offer their services for the Sunday night concerts and to the public who attend these concerts, and show genuine appreciation of items rendered, those responsible for the organising of these concerts should make it their duty to see that the concert is conducted on stricter lines. These concerts are always attended by a band of hoodlums (for that is all they are) who go there solely to make themselves appear big amongst their own flock by creating all kinds of disturbances during the concert. I wonder if these hoodlums carry on in their own homes as they do at the concerts? I’ll say they don’t; and if half the parents were to accompany those concerned, then they would perhaps gain an insight as to how their dear children behave away from home. It is high time that the organisers took things in hand and at least save the artists the humiliating position of having to pause half way through an item, and address this particular class of hoodlum audience. The organisers should make it clear that anyone causing a disturbance will be immediately dealt with, and see to it that they have attendants on the look-out for anyone likely to cause a disturbance. When concerts are conducted on better lines then the cause for which they were given will benefit more and the public will attend in greater numbers. —I am, etc., TIIE ARTISTS’ SYMPATHISER.
