A children’s playground will take the place of a rubbish tip in Walsall Street. Riccarton, for the ground has been levelled off for this purpose and is now ready for sowing in grass. The land belongs to the Riccarton Borough Council. Mr S. B. Kershaw, a member of the council, has in hand some money which will be used to supply' equipment for the play-ground. He also hopes to raise money in the district so that the facilities for youthful enjoyment may be more complete.
