Representatives of local bodies of Wellington and environs met yesterday to discuss proposals for the relief of unemployment. A previous conference adjourned to enable the bodies, concerned to prepare a list of suitable works These were submitted to-day and revised by the meeting. They include tree planting and various road works, including construction of a section of highway shortening the Main North Road near Plimmerton. It was decided that all present should form a deputation to the Minister of Public Works, urging that the jobs should be undertaken.
