MUSICAL ROMANCE.
Regent Shows “ Where is • This Lady?” Franz Lehar, the famous Continental composer, has at last been prevailed on to write one of his brilliant scores especially for the talking screen. This is the bright musical romance, “ Where is This Lady?” which is featured at the Regent Theatre to-day. Lehar needs no introduction to music-lovers, for his fame as the composer of ” The Merry
Widow,” “ The Count of Luxembourg/* ‘‘Gipsy Love,” ‘‘Land of Smiles.” ‘‘The Blue Mazurka ” and other equally successful musical romances is world-wide. “Where Is This Lady?” was written by the popular composer around a happy-go-lucky romance of modern Vienna, and after a preview of the film in London ‘musical critics were loud in their praises of another “ Lehar masterpiece.” The music for “ Where Is This Lady?” is reported to have all those attributes which have carried Lehar to his present position in the realm of musical romance. Charming melody is the essence, and the songs are said to have that irresistible lilt and piquancy that only Lehar can create. Marta Eggert, a beautiful and talented newcomer to the talking screen, who takes the leading role in this fine production, has a glorious voice and a radiant personality. The fact that she is a “ discovery ” of Fritz Kreisler, the famoiis violinist, is a guarantee that she Is a world artist. In addition to its wealth of music, “Where Is This Lady'?” contains every ingredient that goes into the making of the type of entertainment most popular with audiences to-day—-laughter and happiness, mingled with youthful romance. The. supporting cast includes such favourites as Owen Nares and George K. Arthur, popularly’ remembered as Karl Dane’s partner in “silent’* films. Box plan at The Bristol.
