Mr R. H. Stillwell, a Labour candidate for the City Council, speaking last night, thanked the electors who had given hi mthe first, second, third or other preferences. Mr Stillwell congratulated Mr D. G. Sullivan and the Rev J. K. Archer on the overwhelming majority of votes they obtained. As far as Mr Stillwell’s candidature was concerned, he said that he was pleased at having been associated with the Labour Party and that he had accepted nomination not for any personal aggrandisement but in the interests of the high''Christian ideals and policy of the Labour Party, and as the prospects augured for a Labour council, whatever its personnel, he was sure that his Labour colleagues would do hteir utmost for the mass of the people of Christchurch. Informative—Convenient. It could not be too widely known that parcels, prams and motor-cycles may be left half a minute from the Square at Runwell’s Cycle Stand., Gloucester Street, opposite “ Times ” Office. 6 ,
