THEFT DENIED.
Committed to Supreme Court for .Trial. Pleading not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court this morning to a charge of<theft, Richard Croke, a seaman, aged tbirty-five years of age, was committed to the Supreme Court for trial by Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M. The charge alleged that he had stolen £lB from Thomas Harrison Drummond. Evidence was given that the complainant had shared his room with Croke, who had told him he was ‘‘down and out ”. On the morning of April 13, Croke rose before Drummond and went out. Complainant found then that three £5 and three £1 notes had disappeared from a pocket of his trousers. When Croke was arrested he had £ll 9s 3d in his possession, it stated.
