PORT OF LYTTELTON. Kia Ora Will Discharge Liverpool Cargo. There were four overseas vessels in port this morning, the Mataroa loading for London; the Norfolks loading for London and West of England ports; the Canadian Leader, loading for New York, Boston and Montreal; and the Kia Ora, which arrived this morning from Wellington to contiue unloading Liverpool cargo. The Orepuki is loading here to-day for Nelson and nearby ports, and the Foxton should arrive to-day, tinless delayed by- stress of weather, and on loading will proceed to Foxton this evening. Hill, who has been on holiday, resumed’command of the Union Company’s liner Niagara at Sydney, relieving Captain W. Martin, who will await further orders. Mr C. Sharpe, late chief officer of the Rangatira, is, awaiting orders at Wellington. Captain W. D. Cameron, of the Rangatira, is at present on holiday leave. Captain B. B. Irwin has taken command of the vessel, and his deck officers are:— Chief, Mr N. M. Bonnetti; second, Mr W. Cole; third, Mr D. Burgess. The death occurred on Friday at his residence, 45, Rakau Road, Hataitai, of Mr A. N. B. Smith, second engineer of the Union Steam Ship Company’s ferry steamer Rangatira. The late Mr Smith was born at Port Chalmers in 1893 and joined the Union Company in 1916 as junior engineer of the Maheno. He sub- ! sequently served in a. number of vessels jof the company’s fleet and was second engineer on the Rangatira when she was brought out to New Zealand in 1931. The late Mi- Smith i s survived by his | widow and two children.
