A Russian “Frame-up.”

Dear Sir, —I read with disgust the cablegram threatening a general strike on the part of the Independent Labour Party in the event of Great Britain doing her utmost to protect her citizens in Russia, even to the step of going to war. If this is the attitude of the Socialists to do their utmost to tie their country’s hands and openly side tvith their country’s enemies, then it is about time something was done to put a stop to their bombastic threats. I sincerely hope the voters of Christchurch will bear in mind the manner in which the Socialists and Communists are always ready to defend Russia even at the expense of their own country. As a man who has travelled the world a great deal and worked in most countries, I was always proud of the protection given to me under the good old Union Jack. I have been in Russia on” several occasions and know Russia and her methods. The trial of the engineers is nothing more than a criminal “ frame-up ” against men whose only crime was loyalty to their employers. 1 also think the present a good time for New Zealand to curb the insidious propaganda of Russia in this country, and seize all funds coming into this country from Russia for propaganda purposes, and return them to Russia, where they would be far more useful in helping to feed and clothe the starving, helpless Russian peasants.—• I am, etc., SQUARE DEAL.
