W. Good Wins Five-mile Cycling Title. J. I’AN SOY ANNEXES SPRINT. Tile Easter meeting of the Kaikoura Athletic and Cycling Association was held at the Takahanga Domain on Easter Monday in splendid weather conditions, and attracted a large attendance of the public. The gate takings exceeded £36, and the programme of events was finalised well up to time. Competitors were present from Christchurch, Blenheim and Cheviot. With strong fields competing, the racing provided plenty of interest, and some splendid finishes. The cycling events, which Included the half-mile and five-mile South Island championships, attracted good fields, including prominent Christchurch riders. The ribbon for the half-mile was annexed by J. I’Anson. The five-mile championship provided a stirring finish, W. Good (Christchurch) beating .1. Stack (Kaikoura) by a wheel. Both titleholders were decorated with the ribbons by Dr R. L. Withers (president), who expressed the wish that more city riders would visit Kaikoura for future meetings.
