DAIRY PRODUCE.
Attitude of Farmers’ Union. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 19. The question of dairy produce quotas was considered by the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union to-day. Mr W. J. Poison (president) stressed the seriousness of the position and asked that his action in supporting the Dairy Produce Board should be confirmed, stating that quotas would lead to stagnation and check the development of the industry. He also referred to the necessity' for giving Great Britain quid pro quo and mentioned that portion of the Ottawa Agreement dealing with British manufactures in New Zealand. He advocated standing by the Ottawa Agreement and demanding that it should be interpreted in the spirit in which it was intended, namely offering Britain such tariff adjustments as would secure a continuance of the agreement.
