RUGBY FOOTBALL.
North Canterbury Union Meets. At the annual meeting of delegates to the North Canterbury Rugby Sub-Union, Mr W. K. M’Alpine presided over a full attendance. The president's report outlined the sub-union’s activities during the past year. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, the Right Hon G. W. Forbes; president, Mr A. W. Thomas (Loburn); vice-president, Mr G. Carline (Kowai); secretary and treasurer, Mr M. H. Watkins (Glenmark); delegates to Canterbury Rugby Union, Messrs J. Pickering (Cust), G. Hassall (Clarkeville), the president and the vice-president; emergency committee, the president and the secretary; junior selector, Mr G. C. Beattie (Rangiora High School). The balance-sheet showed a satisfactory credit.
The election of senior selector was held over to allow clubs to forward nominations. Opening day was fixed for May 6. An insurance scheme presented by Mr A. W. Thomas was held over till next meeting.
