Relief Questions.

Dear Sir, —One cannot but admit that, although the latest questions to be answered by the relief workers are rather drastic, after all they are but fair and just in the circumstances. But why is not the Government just and fair all round, that is, why do they not enact that all employees, permanent or otherwise, should be requested to answer similar questions, starting, of course, with Government departments? Without hesitation I can truthfully assert that quite a number of men’s wives and sons and daughters each fetch home a good weekly wage, in addition to that of the head of the family. The Labour Department would therefore be greatly assisted in finding work of a permanent nature for many a man with family dependents. —I am, etc., FAIR PLAY.
