Ugly Situation at Roos Meeting. United Press Assn. —By Electric Telegraph-—Copyright. (Received January 16, 11.15 a.m.) CAPE TOWN, January 15. Rapid developments in the political situation during the week-end culminated in the complete rupture between Mr Tielman Roos and General Jan Smuts. A. Roos meeting at Bloemfontein, at which 5000 were present was completely wrecked by Government supporters. An ugly situation developed and Mr Roos was smuggled away under police protection. A crowd of 3000 then surged to the hotel where Mr Roos was staying, but were kept at bay by the police. Mr Roos, however, secured a great personal triumph when he appeared on the balcony, quelled the disturbance and secured a. vote of confidence.
