The hope that the action of the Government in placing an embargo on the importations of fruit and vegetables will lead to a permanent and mutually beneficial arrangement between New Zealand and Australia is expressed in the “ Tomato and Stone Fruit Journal It states that no reciprocity has existed between the two countries in regard to the handling of fruit, and New Zealand was practically barred from fruit trade with nearly all the world’s markets because it was importing from Australia fruits which could easily be produced in the Dominion, and, in addition, a few oranges.
