“Possessed” Will Return to Everybody’s.

“ The Further Adventures of Get-Rich-Quick Wallingford ” will be shown at Everybody’s Theatre for the last time to-night. A trio of Important film names is connected with “ Possessed,” which will commence a return season at Everybody’s Theatre on Monday, for the principal roles are played by Joan Crawford and Clark Gable, two of the most popular personalities on the screen. Report has it that Joan Crawford gives her greatest portrayal in “ Possessed,” in which she plays the role of a factory girl who tastes the luxuries of Park Avenue Ilf© only to meet with bitter disillusionment when her love stands in the way of Gable’s rise to governorship of his State. The story opens at a box factory where Marian Martin (Joan Crawford) is just another cog in the machine age. Her only chance to escape the monotonous routine of her life is to marry A 1 Manning (Wallace Ford), a fellow worker, but Marian, embittered by poverty, feels that a wife is nothing more than a servant who isn’t paid for her work. Circumstances bring her to New York, where she ultimately tastes the luxuries of Park Avenue life as the mistress of Mark Whitney (Clark Gable). For the sake of convention, she is now known as Mrs Moreland. Whitney, wnom she comes to love devotedly, abhors marriage because of a previous unfortunate matrimonial experience. But Marian discovers his love for her when he Is about to turn down an opportunity to run for Governor of the State because it will mean giving her up. Marian heroically attempts to solve his problem by telling Whitney that she is going to marry A 1 Manning. Embittered, Whitney enters the political fight. When it seems that a whispering campaign about the infamous “ Mrs Moreland ” will prove his undoing, Marian goes to the political rally and brings the dramatic conflict to a surprising denouement. Wallace Ford, one of the betterknown leading men on the New York stage, makes his film debut in the production, and Skeets Gallagher plays one of his typical comedy roles. The supporting cast also includes Frank Conroy, Marjorie White, John Miljan and Clara Blandick. In addition, a Laurel and Hardy comedy, “ Come Clean,” will be shown. Box plans at The Bristol.
