BAND CONTEST FUNDS.
Efforts to be Made to Secure Money.
Members of the Woolston, Municipal and Scottish Pipe Bands met last evening to discuss the raising of funds to enable them to take part in the contest to be held at Dunedin on February 18. Mr R. L. Will presided.
The chairman said that a sports meeting at English Park would be a promising' preliminary event to raise part of the.funds required. Mr R. B. Hean said that the Mayor of Christchurch had promised his support, and a number of business firms in the city had expressed an interest in the project. Altogether the sum of £450 was aimed at, £l5O to be raised by each band. It had been suggested that the Rotary Club and the Commercial Travellers* Associa-
tion might help if approached. Messrs Hean and F. J. Turner were appointed joint secretaries and Mr T. Hopkins treasurer. Mr P. C. Lucas was appointed to organise the sports meeting at English Park.
