A suggestion that Air-Commodore Sir Charles Kingsford Smith should be offered inducement to make a special flight to Christchurch to open the Floral Pageant on February 1 was not pursued to any extent at the meeting of the general committee of the Canterbury Horticultural Society last night. It was stated that Sir Charles would not, in his ordinary itinerary, arrive in Christchurch until later in February. If he made a special trip to open the show he would certainly draw a large crowd, but in an}' event it was expected that the pageant would be very well patronised.
