CATHEDRAL SQUARE.
Proposed Improvement of Central Plot. It is expected that finality in connection with the proposals for the improvement of the central portion of Cathedral Square will be reached at a meeting to-morrow morning of the special committee of the Cit3' Council which was set up to deal with the question. At a conference held last year, the Superintendent of City Parks and Gardens (Mr M. J. Barnett) and Messrs A. W. Buxton and C. D. Ta3 r lor were appointed to consider various suggestions and their report together with some further suggestions by the city architect (Mr V. J. Hean) will be dealt with to-morrow. The Mayor said to-day that it was his hope that the meeting to-morrow will reach a definite decision as to the plan to be carried out so that the work could be put in hand at the first opportunity.
