BROADSIDING.
Interprovincial Match at Monica Park. Four-a-side team racing-, the most thrilling form of broadsiding, will be a feature of the programme at the Monica Park Speedway to-morrow night, when a contest between Canterbury and Wellington will be staged. The teams picked are particularly strong, and will be captained by Wally Kilmister (Wellington) and Charlie Blaeklock (Canterbury). The teams will be four-a-side, and two from each team will start in the heats. The- races are run from a rolling start, and there are few thrills which can equal the sight of four fast riders going into the first slide. The provincial competitive spirit will lend interest to the racing. An added atti'action will be an attempt by Wally Kilmister to break the track one mile record. Kilmister should be able to do it, for be ranks with the best riders in England. Of great local interest is the Chevrolet Gold Helmet race between Norm Gray and Wally Thomas. This race should be full of excitement, for both are well matched, and are keen to win the trophy. Their times are exceptionally good, even when compared with those of visiting riders. There will be nineteen events and twenty-seven riders, enough material to make the Christmas Eve programme of broadsiding one to be remembered. One of the features will be a novelty event, which will add a spice of the carnival spirit to the evening's entertainment. There will be the usual handicap events, and those will provide keen competition, for never lias there been so rapid improvement among riders as there has been this season. The style of entertainment provided by broadsiding is essentially modern. With music, the open air and the world’s most thrilling sport, country visitors would be well repaid if they spent their Christmas Eve at the Monica Park Speedway. Patrons are reminded that it would be advisable to be earlj’. as with such a large programme every event will be of interest. Special arrangements are made for the parking of cars in the speedway grounds.
