AT LINCOLN COLLEGE.

Farmers See Demonstrations of Work. Over 400 persons visited Canterbury Agricultural College at Lincoln yesterday. when Farmers’ Day was held, as well as the annual prize-giving ceremony. First of all the whole party was taken to the wheat fields, where Dr Ililgendorf, Director of Wheat Research, demonstrated what was being done in the direction of practical research w'ork. Here was to be seen a collection of imported varieties, numbering nearly 3000 lines, gathered from most parts of the world. Next the farmers were taken to the grass plots and then to the experimental portions devoted to the sowing of clover, cocksfoot and ryegrass. At a luncheon held later. Dr IT. G. Denham, chairman of the College Board of Governors, presided, and among those present were members of the board and Mr W. J. Jenkins, president of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association, as well as the staff and students. Proposing the toast of “ The Board of Governors,” Mr Jenkins said that that body was composed of men who were doing a most important work not only as far as Canterbury wa.s concerned, but also the whole of New Zealand. Mr Jenkins said he felt quite sure that the college would leave its mark all over New Zealand, as well as in other parts of the world. He eulogised the work of the staff and students.
