TWO NEW DIRECTORS

Elected by Shareholders of Refrigerating Co. LEGAL OPINIONS READ. An extraordinary meeting of shareholders of the New Zealand Refrigerating Co., Ltd., was held yesterday. Sir Francis Boys presiding over a very large attendance. The Press was not admitted. The meeting was divided into two sections, the first being an ordinary meeting called for the election of two directors. The successful candidates were Messrs W. H. E. Flint and J. R. Cuningham. Mr Bernard Tripp, who is about to visit Australia, announced his resignation from the directorate, but expressed the hope of rejoining it later. Messrs Flint and Cuningham have been elected subject to the checking of the votes to-day. At the conclusion of the ordinary meeting the extraordinary general meeting was resumed, when legal opinions regarding the differences between the shareholders and the members of the executive were read. It was finally decided that the meeting, which lasted from 2 p.m. till just on 6 p.m., be adjourned till February 1. No official statement was issued last evening, but it was announced that a statement, probably drawn up in collaboration between the directors and the shareholders’ representatives, would be issued later. The New Directors. Mr J. R. Cuningham, who has been elected to the directorate, is a prominent legal man in Christchurch. lie was for five years articled to Mr T. W. Stringer (now Sir Walter Stringer). He was admitted to the Bar in 1906, and has practised in Christchurch for twenty-six years. For the last twelve years he has been a member of the Board of Governors of Canterbury College, and he is also a member of

the Board of Governors of the Choimondeley Memorial Home at Governor’s Bay. Mr Cuningham is the local chairman of the Mortgagors Re lief Adjustment Commission. He has had a wide legal and commercial experience, having been a director of a number of business enterprises. He has travelled abroad a great deal. Mr W. H. E. Flint, who retired last vear from the managership of the New Zealand interests of Thomas Borthwick and Sons, Ltd., has had a very extensive experience of the frozen meat trade. Prior to coming to the Dominion in 1921, as New Zealand manager, Mr Flint had been associated for twenty years with Borthwick and Sons in London and several English provincial centres. About three years ago he negotiated the purchase from the Bank of New Zealand of the Waingawa Freezing Works. Since coming to the Dominion.
