ROMANTIC DRAMA.

“ Sinners in the Sun ” Opens To-morrow. 44 Corsair,” starring Chester Morris, will conclude its season at the Theatre Royal to-night. Sinners in the Sun,” which will open a season at the Theatre Royal to-mor-row,” is a romantic drama, played against a scintillating background of wealth and beauty. It introduces beautiful women in gorgeous gowns; lavish exterior and interior settings of millionaire homes and clubs. The leading roles are taken by the popular players, Carole Lombard and Chester Morris. Carole Lombard plays the part of a Fifth Avenue clothes model, who will not marry her sweetheart because he has no chance of making her happy on his small salary. When he refuses to postpone the ceremony, she breaks with him altogether, and subsequently both find—and marry—rich and attractive partners. These people, however, do not seem to know’ the meaning of constancy in marriage, and the ex-lovers, who are still in love, find things very difficult. They meet at a popular gambling resort, where their respective spouses are enjoying the life and company immensely. From this strange mix-up of human emotions comes an intriguing finale which completely suits the story and its plot. A wonderful display of gowns is a feature of the film. Much of the play takes place in

a fashionable modiste’s salon, and the parade of mannequins will be of particular interest to women. Many of the scenes were filmed in the south of France, and all the beauty of the Mediterranean coast has been caught by the camera man, Ray June, who was responsible for the excellent photo-, graphy in “ Alibi.” Chester Morris, who is one of the most successful actors of the younger school, will be remembered for his acting in “ The Big House.” Reginald Barlow, well-known actor of the London stage, who went to Hollywood last year and has already appeared in several productions, has an important supporting role, while Adrienne Ames and Alison Skipworth have minor parts. There will be good supporting pictures. CHILDREN’S MATINEE. A special children's matinee will be held at the Theatre Royal to-morrow morning, beginning at 10.45. At this matinee 44 Shotgun Pass,” starring Tim M’Coy, will be featured. There will also be other attractions.
