Police Attacked by Natives With Poisoned Arrows. | FORCED TO FIRE ON MOB. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received December 16, noon.) CALCUTTA, December 15. Several hundred Santhalis, aboriginals of Western Bengal, were concerned in serious rioting at Malda under their tribal leader. They occupied a mosque, defied the authorities and announced that they’ had set up a new Government. The British District Magistrate and Police Superintendent, when attempting to reason with them, were attacked . j with posoned arrows and swords. One , j constable was fatall3 r injured. . j The police opened fire, killing three ■ | and injuring many. I The situation is now under control.
