BECKENHAM LIBRARY.
At the last monthly meeting of the Beckenham Library Committee, Mr H. C. Campbell presided over a full attendance of members. It was reported that seventy-three new books—fiction and non-fiction —had been placed on the shelves during the previous month. The secretary reported that 3018 and 900 books had been issued in the previous six weeks from the adult and juvenile sections respectively, and fourteen adult and ten juvenile subscribers had joined up The membership roll now totalled 409 subscribers. It was agreed that the usual library hours be maintained throughout the Christmas and New Yeaholidays. An allocation of fio was authorised for the purchase of new books during the remainder of December and the executve was asked to allot the January requirements at a later date as the next meeting would not be held until January 23. On the conclusion of the business members held a cup evening, resulting in a good donation of crockery. Supper was dispensed by the ladies of the committee.
