FREEZING DISPUTE.
The position in the freezing inclus-' try brought about by the refusal of the slaughtermen to accept the employers’ new terms, remains unchanged. All the works in the Canterburv district are operating with free labour, and are coping with the stock coming forward. This morning members of the Freezing Workers’ Unkm discussed the situation for several hours, but subsequently no statement was issued for publication. The secretary of the union (Mr 11. C. Revell) said there*had been some drift among the labourers, but it was nothing serious because the employers were not putting through the stock to warrant their engagement in any numbers. There was no chance of the slaughtermen accepting the proposed new conditions.
