OTAGO’S SHIELD TEAM.

Badcock Will Captain Side Against Wellington.

(Special to the “ Star.”) DUNEDIN, December 10.

The Otago team to meet Wellington in the first Plunket Shield match is the same that played Ilawke’s Bay, with the exception of the captain, Dickinson, who is unable to travel and has been replaced by Priest. The selectors have adopted an unusual course in selecting the coach Badcock as the captain.

Chettleburgh, who makes his first appearance in Shield cricket, is a slow* bowler, a good bat and fieldsman. Badcock will bear the brunt of the attack, assisted by Dunning, Elmes (a left-hander) and Moloney, a successful slow bowler. Hawksworth is the

wicket-keeper. The batting is fairly, strong but the bowling is doubtful. Following is the team: F. T. Badcock (captain), T. Chettleburgh, R. W. Coupland, J. A. Dunning, C. Elmes, W. Hawkesworth, A. R. Knight, V. G. Cavanagh, D. A. R. Moloney, A. J. Priest, D. Smith and V. Leader.
