Annual Break-up Party Held. The members of the Holy Trinity Girls’ Friendly Society held their annual break-up party in the Sunday Schoolroom on Tuesday evening. There was a large attendance. Tbe programme was an enjoyable one and provided a bright, entertainment. Community Singing. Arrangements are in hand to hold a community sing at Lyttelton in about a fortnight’s time in aid of the Canterbury Yacht and Motor Boat Club. It is proposed that Mr Alan Brown shall be the conductor and Dr F. A’Court the pianist. Presentation of Cup. The presentation of the Tidswell Cup to the Lyttelton team which won the Scouts’ Rugby football competition was made recently by Commissioner G. Tidswell. the donor of the cup. The presentation was made at St Andrew’s Schoolroom, Christchurch. Sailing Club’s Races. It is expected that there will he keen rivalry this season in the Sailing Club events for the fourteen-foot ciass boats. Within the next fortnight it is hoped that six boats of this class will be able to compete. Two of them are still in the builders’ hands. One is being built by Mr F. Dobby, for Mr T. Hobbs, and the other by Mr R. Tredennick for himself. Colleen will be sailed this season by F. Forman, who has been prominent in Cornwall Cup contests, in which he was spinnaker hand. Usher will be sailed by N. A. Hobbs. T. Hobbs in the meantime is to take the tiller of Avenger until he gets his new boat, while Irene will be in charge of E. Sinclair. No names have yet been selected for the two new boats.
