Toast Surprise at Red Dinner. LONDON, October 27. After extolling Soviet conditions, Mrs Mansell Moulin, president of the Society for Promoting Anglo-Russian Cultural Relations, proposed the toast of “ The Soviet ” at a dinner for visitors to Russia. Some of the guests rose bewilderedlv. Then Sir James Purves-Stewart, M.A., M.D. (senior physician at Westminster Hospital), cried, “Gentlemen, the King,” and the remainder rose, the loyal toast being honoured amid cheers and hooting.
