Borstal for Sons and Gaol for Father. THEFTS OF CLOTHING. “ Never before in a fairly -wide experience have I listened to -so much deliberate perjury from the ■witness box,” said Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., in the Police Court to-day in summing up a case against a father and his two sons, who were jointly charged on ten counts of stealing clothing valued at nearly £4O. The accused were Reginald John Va liens, a labourer, aged 20, Stanley Alfred Vallens, a greengrocer, aged 18, and Alfred John Vallens, a gardener, aged 43, all of Onslow Road, Wainoni. Reginald John Vallens, who pleaded guilty to all charges, was ordered to be detained at the Borstal at Waikeri for three years. Stanley Alfred \ aliens, who "pleaded not guilty, was ordered to be detained at the Borstal at Invercargill for two years, and Alfred John Vallens, who entered a similar plea, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour.

The Magistrate said that Stanley Alfred Vallens should be prosecuted for perjury. ____________
