NO “KEY” TO MAORI.
Dilemma of American Citizen.
Difficulty in the pronunciation of Maori names through the lack of a “ key ” is a matter of some concern to a woman teacher in the State Teachers’ College, Winona, Minnesota. In thanking the Government Tourist Bureau at Christchurch for pamphlets concerning New Zealand, she states that she has now a sizeable bibliography of the Dominion. Her first letter was addressed to the Bishop of Christchurch (Dr West-Watson), who forwarded it to the bureau. The writer asks for the addresses of some young stamp collectors in New Zealand, as stamps from this country are eagerly appropriated by high school students. If addresses were sent the courtesy could be returned.
