LOAN EXPENDITURE.
New Brighton Tar-sealing Scheme Criticised.
At the meeting of the South Brighton Progress League last evening strong exception was taken to the New Brighton Borough Council’s action in deciding to use the balance of the £52,000 loan for tar-sealing Bowhill Road instead of for the formation of Sturdee *nd part of Halsey Streets as was intended under the loan.
The league had previously written to the council protesting and asking for the formation of the two streets, and had received a reply that the formation of the streets would be favourably considered when the next schedule of works was being prepared. On the motion of Mr H. Robinson it was decided that a deputation from the league should immediately wait on the council’s chairman of finance and discuss the matter. Messrs S. J. Grammer (president), A. Hulme and F. W. Larcombe were appointed the deputation.
