PRODUCE MERCHANTS.

Federation Conference to be Held in City.

Delegates from both the North and South Islands have assembled in Christchurch to attend the annual conference of the New Zealand Grain and Produce Merchants’ Federation, which will be officially opened by the Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.) to-morrow morning. The Mayor will welcome the delegates at Frascati at 9.30 o’clock, after which the business will be proceeded with in committee. The president, Mr George Stevens, of Invercargill, will occupy the chair. The delegates are staying at Warner’s Hotel. They are: Messrs C. M’Cullough, M. B. Iggulden, W. H. Prentis, N. Nelson and C. F. Rosser (Auckland), A. P. Stuart (Manawatu), E. E. Stoupe, 11. B. Townsend, F A. Elliott, E. A. Rowe and A. G. Cathie (Wellington), J. H. Handiside and A. A. Robertson (Masterton), J. J. Corry and C. R. Rabbits (Blenheim), C. H. Coxhead and A. B. Annand (Timaru), H. H. Courtis, G. T. Stevens and J. M. Wilson (Invercargill), A. J. Hawke (Gore), H. B. Waters and A. Miller (Dunedin), and J. W. Holmes (Oamaru). This morning sectional committees of the federation discussed matters of interest to grain and produce merchants and this afternoon the South and North Island delegates will meet separately to consider questions which are to be presented for discussion.
