PERSONAL ITEMS.

Airs Percy Knowles, Timaru, is staying in Christchurch for Race Week. Mrs D. R. Hay, The Vicarage, Little River, is spending a holiday in Wellington. Airs Devlin, Timaru, who has been the guest of Airs P. Fallon, Little River, has returned home. Air and Airs B. J. Clark, Aliss C. Gittins (Melbourne) are staving at the United Service Hotel.

Airs Alervyn Reed, Auckland, is the guest of her sister, Airs, G. Colbeck, Cashmere Hills.

Lieutenant-Commander A. W. Clarke and Mrs Clarke (Auckland) are staying at the New City Hotel.

Aliss R. Sharpin (Dunedin) and Miss D. Lucas (Blenheim) are guests at the New City Hotel. Miss Hilda Montgomery, “ Wairewa,” Little River, is the guest of Mrs John Grigg, Longbeach, for the Ashburton Show. Airs Noel Roake, Fendalton, who has been staying with her parents, Mr and Airs E. Newbigin, Hastings, is now visiting Rotorua. Aliss Dorothy Judd and Aliss Af. Dysart, Darfield, motored to Sefton, where they spent the week-end with Airs J. R. C. Matthews.

Mr and. Airs D. W. Hussy, Christchurch, are spending a holiday in Little River as the guests of Airs J. Keenan.

Recent arrivals at Storey’s Hotel include:—Messrs Hay ton, Cowling, Hexton, W. Cook, Mr and Mrs King, Messrs Lowry, Bleach, Gilling, Aliss Chaplin and Mr O’Connell, Dunedin. Captain and Mrs*-Colin Sinclair Thomson, Wellington, and Miss Elspeth Barton, Featherston, will stay with Air and Mrs George Gould, “ Avonbank,” Fendalton, for Race Week.

The Bishop of Waiapu, the Rt Rev H. W. Williams, and Airs Williams, Napier, who have been visiting Canon J. R. Wilford, College House, left last night for the north.

Lieutenant K. Walker, H.AI.S. Diomede, and Mrs Walker will be the guests of Air and Airs Hallows Wood, St Albans, during the cruiser’s visit to Lyttelton this week.

Airs T. Goodwin has returned to Christchurch after two years spent in Tasmania, Melbourne and Sydney. For several months she has been the guest of her sister, Airs J. Raper, Auckland. The latest arrivals at the Hotel Federal include: Air H. Daymond (Chatham Island), Aliss V. Sanson (Auckland), Miss Phyllis Exley (Manchester, England), Air C. Weller (Wellington) and Air J. F. Strang (Invercargill). Miss Laura Tabart, who leaves next week for England, was entertained at morning tea at Beath’s yesterday by the executive of the Canterbury Alanufacturers’ Association. The president (Air E. Archbold) expressed the manufacturers’ best wishes to Aliss Tabart, who has been for many years the only lady member of the association, and also holds the position of president of the Women’s Auxiliary. Miss Tabart was presented with a travelling rug as a token of the executive’s esteem.
