POUND SCHEME ENDS.

Weekly Report from Central Depot. The last collection made for the Pound Scheme on Saturday last was very satisfactory, the amount of goods collected being one of the best for the fifteen weeks that the scheme was running, according to the director of the Central Relief Depot, Mr J. W. Woodbury. Mr Woodbury stated this morning that the committee of the Citizens’ Relief Association -would lik*e to take the opportunity of thanking the people m the city and suburbs who had so generously contributed to the scheme. D also wished to tender its grateful thanks to all who gave their services in the way of collecting, attending the various depots and giving the use of rooms and shops for receiving depots. It was really wonderful how the people had' helped with the scheme for the second winter, and this was pi oof of the great sympathy and liberality of the citizens of Christchurch in every effort that was being made to relieve the ex,St.!^edfeer.eSthat the Gift Scheme that is taking the place of the Pound Scheme will meet with the same liberal response as the Pound Scheme did,” added Mr Woodbury. “The Gift Scheme operates by an order through a grocer or By sending a gift by the children to tha school, from where the committee s\ an will collect each week. received over the counter at the Central Depot. 136, -Lichfield Street, during this week have been most liberal.
