WOMAN ROBBED IN CAB. BANDIT SHOT DEAD. A sensational occurrence, riA'alling the Avildest dreams of Chicago gangsters, took place in Stettin, Prussia, folloAving the discoA’ery of a man loitering on the premises of a bank. As he tried to flee he found his Avay stopped by police, and, turning at bay Avith a reA'olver in each hand, lie attempted to shoot liis Way to freedom.
The policeman returned the fire, but the gunman stopped a taxicab and forced
the driver to take him to the nearest railway station, Avith a pistol at his head, AA-hile a Avoman Avho Avas a passenger in the cab Avas made to turn out the contents of her bag. Aleamvhile a police car had taken up the chase, and a Avild revolver battle ensued, in Avhich a policeman and four passers-by Avere Avounded. In a short time the taxi-cab Ava.s brought to a stop, and the man took refuge in the nearest house, Avherc, after many more 6hots had been exchanged, lie was killed as lie Avas trying to make liis escape oA-er the garden Avail.
