NEW HEAD APPOINTED.

Will Take Over Cathedral Grammar School.

The Cathedral Chapter has appointed the Rev Ernest Edmonds, M.A. tCamb.), L.Th., F.R.G.S., as head master of the Cathedral Grammar School to succeed the Rev S. Parr, who leaves at the end of the year to become Principal of College House. Mr Edmonds was educated at Tonbridge School and at Cambridge University (Emmanuel College), where he graduated in modern languages and geographical science. After graduating, he was engaged in educational work at the India Office in London until the outbreak of the war, when he enlisted. At the end of the war Mr Edmonds received a Government appointment as | head master of a Mohammedan Anglo- ' Oriental school of 800 boys at Aligarb, India. In 1925 Mr Edmonds came to New Zealand and until 1931 was head master of a private school in Gisborne. Mr Edmonds was ordained by Bishop Sedgwick in 1928 and is at present assistant-priest in the parish of Sydenham, where his success among the boys has been an outstanding feature.
