CHOLERA IN CHINA.
(“ Star” Radio.) (Received August 2, 11 a.m.) SHANGHAI, August 1. Cholera, the dreaded disease of China, raged through the Yangtse Valley, taking heavy toll in lives, while Canton was counting a death toll of over one hundred from recent heavy rains. Advices from Western Honan province state that the disease is spreading rapidly, and that authorities have appealed to Nanking for medical aid. The city of Honan is one of the worst sufferers.
Hankow despatches say that cholera is widespread in south-west Hupeh province, and that bubonic plague is taking heavy toll of life. A heatwave was adding to suffering.
