“ ONE HOUR WITH YOU.”

Splendid Entertainment at Plaza. Though the word “ splendid ” is one that is too often overworked in film critiques, there was never a programme more deserving of its application than that showing at the Plaza Theatre this week. Every “ short ” is a gem, and the main feature, “ One Hour With You ”, is ideal entertainment. And so it ought to be, for Ernst Lubitsch was the producer, Oscar Straus wrote the music, Maurice Chevalier and Jeanette MacDonald are the stars, the action is smooth, the humour is smart and the singing and acting are- I —well, one must say it, “ splendid ”. “ One Hour With You ” is an unusual film. In the first place, in no other film in which Chevalier has appeared has he walked home from a taxi ride with a beautiful woman. But this he does after a five-minute jaunt with Genevieve Tobin, and all because he is a faithful husband. There again the film is unusual, for in no other film has Chevalier been a faithful husband at the outset. Of course, he has never before bad Jeanette MacDonald for xvife at the outset either. It is a story that enables Chevalier to show to the best possible advantage all his unforgettable charm, all his superb acting and all his amazing talent for the * delicate handling of risque situations.
