£4OO DAMAGES AWARDED.
Per Press Association.
WELLINGTON, August 1. An accident at Kilbirnie on the evening of May 29, in which Charles Richard Ingram, a retired public servant, of Rongotai, was struck by a motor-car and injured, had a sequel in a claim for £BOO damages against Robert George Thompson, a salesman, of Miramar. The case was concluded before .Mr Justice MacGregor and a jury this evening. A verdict was returned in favour of Ingram, awarding £4OO damages. The car was being driven by a son of Thompson, who was sitting alongside him. The son gained his driver’s license next day. Evidence was given indicating that plaintiff walked across the street and was struck by the oncoming car. Thompson, in evidence, said he took Ingram home and offered to get a doctor, but Ingram declined, saying it was his own fault. This was denied by Ingram’s wife.
