HITLER POLLS 11,000,000.
Left Coalition Holding Majority. (“ Star” Radio.) (Received August 1, 10.20 a.m.) BERLIN, July 31. At 10.30 p.m., of the count of 30,000,000 out of the total of 35,000,000 votes, the party strengths were:— . Votes. Social-Democrats 6,300 000 Hitlerites 11,000,000 Communists 4,300,000 Centre and Bavarian allies 5,000[000 People’s Party 370,000 Democrats 300,000 In percentages, these figures work out as follows:—Social-Demcorats have 22 per cent, and the Communists 15 per cent, making up their joint total to 37 per cent, which is exactly the percentage of the Hitlerite voters. The German Nationals have 6 per cent and the Centre (with the Bavarians) nearly 16 per cent. The People’s Party and the Democrats have 1 per cent each. The Democrats, however, so far have failed to secure the necessary minimum of 60,000 votes in any one constituency, so it is likely to be without a mandate at all. The general trend shows that the National Socialists are still gaining votes, but considerably less than their opponents, the Communists, who are in second place, with the Centre Party next, and then the Social-Democrats. The German Nationals are gaining appreciably, whilst all other parties are dissolving visibly.
