Deface Countryside, says Lord Bledisloe. (Special lo the *' Star.”) AUCKLAND, July 1. “ Do all you can to keep your town beautiful and, whatever you do, keep at bay those terrible advertisements which are seen in so many parts of New Zealand’s beautiful countryside,” said the Governor-General. Lord Bledisloe, at a welcome at Tauranga yesterday. His Excellency said they would hardly believe the number of overseas visitors there were to Government House who referred to the ugly advertisements which defaced the' New Zealand countryside to the presumed advantage of commerce. At Home there was an organisation whose members were pledged not to purchase | f r 9 m firms which defaced beauty spots, j His hearers could do worse than follow I that example.
