EFFECT ON RAILWAYS
Decrease In Otira Figures During Strike. The recent mining hold-up has had a considerable effect on the revenue of the Railway Department from Otira tunnel traffic. During the past month 38,651 tons have been transported through the tunnel as compared with 49,369 tons in June of last year—a decrease of 10,718 tons. The decrease is even more noticeable in that in April an improvement was shown in the figures as compared with last year.
