At Church Crookham, in Hampshire, there .is quite an extensive tobacco farm. Until the reign of Charles 11., tobacco was grown all over the country. lie forbad its cultivation in order to make more money out of the import tax on tobacco. That ban was not lifted until 1900, but there is decidedly a future for tobacco growing in England.
