j Man ChartreJ With Firing Gun. CARTERTON, June 30. John Richards, a native, appeared in the Police Court yesterday, charged with discharging a firearm at Reuben Kopu, another native, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm The two Maoris were admittedly bad friends and on the night of June 11, Richards, it is alleged, fired a gun at Kopu. One pellet entered the man’s wrist, but the wound was not serious. The gun was fired at a distance of one hundred yards. After hearing evidence, the Bench committed the accused to the Supreme Court at Wellington for trial. Bail was allowed. The accused pleaded xiot guilty.
