Man’s Age of Strength.
At what age is a man’s muscular strength greatest? It might be natural to suppose that, with increasing age, the muscles, which develop with constant use, would become stronger, but this is not the case. It has been proved bj' experiment that the extent to which a man uses his muscles does not affect the increase and decline of his strength. Tests show that where the average lifting power of a boy is 2Solbs., it should increase by his twentieth 3'ear to 3201b5. A maximum of 3651b5., or ‘herabouts should be attained by his thirtieth year, after which strength declines. Between 40 and 50 the dels rapid.
